Mary Kaye Brunk Melinda Smith

Mary Kaye has been ministering in gospel music for 11 years now. She began singing with "The Kingdom Seekers" in 1992 and then in 1999 she as well as Darin Huggins and Brian Mattingly took a leap of faith and began the ministry of One Purpose. Mary Kaye recalls, "I started singing at church as a young girl. I remember in my sixth grade English class my teacher asked us to write an essay on what we wanted to be when we grew up. I wrote that I wanted to be a singer in a gospel music group when I grew up. I count it such a blessing to know that God honors the desires of our hearts when we place our lives in His hands."

When Mary Kaye is not traveling with One Purpose, she and her husband Billy make their home in Roland, Oklahoma with their family. They faithfully attend Dora Assembly of God Church.

Through this musical journey God has blessed Mary Kaye not only with a beautiful voice but also a sensitive heart to write some of the most beautiful songs that uplift the name of Jesus Christ. She has had songs released both nationwide and overseas. "He’s Still Doing Miracles" was charted this past year at #141. Mary Kaye states, "As we continue to travel where God leads, my prayer would be that God uses me to touch someone’s heart and life in a way that will truly make a difference.

Melinda, who sings soprano for One Purpose, was born and raised in Charleston, Arkansas. She grew up singing with her sisters but most of the time she would sing solo in church. Melinda recalls, "I remember sitting at the dinner table one night when I was in my early teens and looking through a singing magazine for a group to audition for. I didn’t find one that night, but my mom told me that someday, if it was meant, then I would get the opportunity to minister in a group."

After graduating high school, Melinda was asked to go on an Out Reach Crusade. "We saw many people saved and turn their lives back to God, and I knew then", states Melinda, "that traveling and spreading God’s word was what I wanted and needed to do". Melinda knows first hand how God cares so much about every part of our lives and wants to be apart of all of it. After marrying her wonderful husband Chris, Melinda and he wanted to have children but after five years of trying were told that they would never be able to conceive. They then began looking at other options and decided to adopt a precious little four year old boy, Dalton, who has filled their hearts with so much joy. Later Melinda and Chris went to adopt another child and were given a beautiful five-month old baby girl. They loved her with all they had but after eight months a judge decided that she should be moved to the home of one of her family members. Melinda recalls that "this was probably the hardest day of my life. I built up so much bitterness in my heart about the decision that the judge had made, but when I finally turned it all over to God and asked Him to remove the bitterness in my life, God moved in a mighty way." About one month after asking God to heal Melinda’s heart, she and Chris found out that they were expecting their very own child. "God never ceases to let us know that He is in control if we will just turn everything over to Him."

In October of 2002, Melinda auditioned with One Purpose but knew that she was about to give birth to their son, Dillon, and would be a while before she could join the group. On October 28th Melinda gave birth to Dillon and then in January of 2003 she joined One Purpose and began doing what she knew that God had called her to. When Melinda is not traveling with One Purpose, she and her family faithfully attend Calvary Chapel  Fort Smith. Melinda states, "I thank God for all of the blessings that He has given to my family and me, and I pray that His anointing will continue to be upon my family and One Purpose.

Delight thyself in the Lord; and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

Darin Huggins Brian Mattingly
Darin has been with One Purpose since the beginning of this ministry in 1999. He has been involved with gospel music for 11 years and playing the drums for 24 years. When not traveling with the group, Darin serves as Deacon and church musician at his home church, Lee’s Chapel Assembly of God, in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Darin’s beautiful wife, Dana, and his two daughters support him and the ministry in everyway possible. Darin states,"Without the support of my family I don’t believe any of this would be possible. Some of the most memorable moments for me during the past few years have been the services where we have witnessed God’s sweet anointing in a mighty way. My desire is that One Purpose allows the "leading" of the Holy Sprit to move in our services, and for souls to be saved and needs met."

Brian began playing guitar at the age of 7 and has had a love for music ever since. He is a very versatile musician playing acoustic guitar, drums, and bass guitar. Brian makes his home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma with his lovely wife, Paige, and their three children. Brian is very active in his home church, First Assembly of God in Sallisaw. When he is not traveling with One Purpose, Brian serves as a member of the youth staff, is the drummer for the youth praise band, and assist with Sunday worship services as well. Brian states, "If you’re in God’s ministry for the right reasons—to see souls saved, God will meet your every need. I give God all the credit for what we have been able to accomplish through this ministry".

Brian has recently been endorsed by Warrior Instruments, "an independent manufacturer dedicated to creating acoustic and electric guitars as well as basses for the musician or collector who seeks unparalleled quality and craftsmanship."

Matthew Nix  Jordan Taylor

Matt plays the keyboard and sings some as well.  Matt started playing the piano when he was just 4 years old and says that music has had a great influence in his life.  He makes his home in Fort Smith, AR and attends Harvest Time Tabernacle with his wife Debbie, and their four children.  When not traveling with One Purpose Matt plays in the orchestra at Harvest Time.

Matt says:  "I've wanted to be part of a group like this for a long time.  One Purpose is like a big family.  When I joined this group I gained not only friends, but brothers and sisters.  We all have our minds pointed in the same direction.  This ministry all about Christ and HIS divine purpose.  What a privilege it is to be a part of a ministry dedicated to seeing souls brought into the Kingdom of God."

Jordan Taylor joined One Purpose in October, 2006 and is the newest member of the group.

She began playing the bass in high school when the youth praise and worship team needed a bass player.  Since her dad played, she  was the only one with access to one.   Jordan says she kept at it and at it and soon, God blessed her and allowed her to pick it up fairly easy.  She then moved from playing in the youth, to the main services as well.

Jordan enjoys being with her family and church family, and serves as a musician and Sunday School teacher at Lee's Chapel Assembly of God in Muldrow, OK.

"Without the support of my family, I would not be who I am today.  I'm so thankful to have parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who have led their lives as examples of what it means to be true Spirit-filled Christians," Jordan says.

Jordan says to be in this  ministry is something she humbly holds with a sense of honor, since she was a fan of the group before joining it.

"Since joining the group, I feel I've grown not only as a musician, but spiritually as well, " Jordan says.  "I thank God for this opportunity to further his Kingdom and see lives change."
